Can A Blanket Really Help With My Anxiety and Sleep?
I have always struggled with depression and anxiety. Could a therapeutic weighted blanket be the solution for my sleep and mental health issues?
If I am lucky, on average, I get anywhere from 4 to 6 hours of sleep daily. Many nights I've spent in bed awake staring at the ceiling, tossing and turning in bed or overall feeling restless. Just thinking about bedtime makes me anxious. Will I be able to fall asleep tonight or will I even stay asleep long enough? I've tried everything from exercise, to no electronics past a certain hour and doctor prescribed medication. Nothing ever seemed to help.Working as a traveling model and entertainer leaves me working odd late night hours. I can never seem to get enough real quality sleep. Work is my life and the only real sleep I can get will only happen in my own bed. There's never enough hours in the day, so sleep takes a back seat constantly.
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to model a product. Most of my work has ranged from fetish, erotic and artistic so I was excited to add to my resume of work. I got to the shoot and learned about the product I was going to be working with was a weighted blanket. I instantly thought, "What's a weighted blanket"? I was told about the correlation between sleep and mental health and all the benefits this blanket had for people who suffer from both. The shoot went great and I was really interested in purchasing my own heavy blanket. I went online and checked out the company's website for more information.

I really didn't have anything to loose, so I went to Amazon and made my purchase. I was hopeful and really looking to be rid of medication to get some quality sleep. Within the first week I could tell I was falling asleep much faster than usual. Because I am sleeping longer, my anxiety and depression isn't so crippling. It did take a minute to get used to the additional weight but now I feel lonely without it. I do plan to continue with my depression medication, but I am happy to report I no longer take my prescribed Trazodone to fall asleep AND my bedtime anxiety has subsided.
